Welding equipment is subject to special safety requirements when used commercially. Regular inspections ensure that electrical hazards are avoided and that the equipment is always safe to operate.
Obligation to Perform Safety Inspections (UVV Inspection)
The operator of commercially used power sources and their components is obliged to have a safety inspection of the equipment carried out regularly depending on usage according to DIN EN IEC 60974-4.
RED by Lorch recommends an inspection interval of a maximum of twelve months.
Furthermore, the safety inspection must also be carried out again after changes, repairs or maintenance of the equipment.
These inspections are part of the accident prevention regulations (UVV) and serve to protect users, the working environment, and the equipment.
Carrying Out the Inspection
The inspection includes:
Visual inspection for external defects
Measurement and functional testing of electrical safety
Checking the protective conductor, insulation resistance, and equipment condition
Documentation of the measurement results
The inspection is carried out exclusively by trained specialists using appropriate measuring instruments.
You are welcome to order the inspection directly from us via the contact form: Order UVV Inspection at RED.
Alternatively, feel free to commission a RED dealer. You can find a suitable partner in your area in the Dealer Search.
WARNING
Danger due to improperly performed safety checks.
An incorrectly carried out safety check may damage the device and cause injury.
– Ensure that safety checks are carried out exclusively by a qualified professional.
Note for Private Users
For purely private use, there is no legal obligation to regularly carry out a UVV or safety inspection.
Nevertheless, it is recommended to have the equipment regularly checked by a specialist workshop to ensure safety and functionality in the long term – especially with intensive use or longer periods of inactivity.
If you have any questions about the safety inspection or its execution, please contact us via the contact form. We will be happy to assist you and, if necessary, arrange a suitable testing centre or service partner.
