The fan is responsible for cooling your welding machine. If it does not run or only runs slowly, the device can overheat and trigger error messages. However, with the RED TIG 180 DC, a special feature must be considered: the device is equipped with a standby function for the fan. If it does not work despite prolonged welding or greater load on the welding machine, please note the following information on possible causes and solutions.
Possible causes and solutions
Main switch defective
Solution: check, replace if necessary.Fan defective
Solution: have it checked, replace if necessary.Cable defective
Solution: check the electrical circuit.Temperature sensor defective
Solution: have it checked, replace if necessary.
Special notes on the fan function of the RED TIG 180 DC
The fan does not run continuously but has a standby function and is controlled by the temperature inside the device.
Thermocontrol sensors monitor the temperature inside the device and automatically switch the fan on or off as needed.
Advantages: reduced dust inside, less noise, energy savings.
When the device starts, the fan runs for a few seconds regardless of the temperature and then switches off again if necessary. If this short start-up does not occur when switched on, the fan or another component may be defective. A fan that does not work continuously will very likely cause the error message E01 (Overtemperature) during welding.
