To ensure the safe and reliable operation of your RED by Lorch welding machine, important instructions must also be observed regarding transport, installation, and the working environment.
By ensuring that the requirements are met, not only are potential hazards for you and those around you minimised, but you also exclude some potential sources of error that could negatively affect your welding results.
Ignoring these can not only lead to malfunctions or damage to the device and pose a safety risk, but also worsen your welding results.
Safety Instructions for the Working Environment
Remove solvents, degreasers, and other flammable materials from the work area before starting welding. Cover non-movable flammable materials. Only weld when the ambient air does not contain high concentrations of dust, acid vapours, corrosive gases, or flammable substances. Special caution is required when carrying out repair work on piping systems and containers that contain or have contained flammable liquids or gases.
Protect the device from moisture.
Use a suitable extraction device for gases and cutting fumes. Use a respirator if there is a risk of inhaling welding or cutting fumes.
Place a fire extinguisher within your reach. Conduct a fire check after completing welding work.
Do not use the device inside enclosed containers, in confined working conditions, or where there is increased electrical hazard. Do not use the device in locations where it is exposed to shocks or vibrations (e.g. road, rail and cable transport, aircraft, watercraft, cranes). Avoid drafts during welding processes where shielding gas is used. Shield the workplace with curtains or movable walls to protect people nearby from harmful exposure to optical radiation affecting eyes and skin.
Ambient Temperature Ranges
Operation, storage and transport of RED welding machines must only take place under the following environmental conditions.
- Operating temperature range: –10 °C to +40 °C (+14 °F to +104 °F).
- Temperature range for storage and transport: –25 °C to +55 °C (–13 °F to +131 °F).
- Relative humidity: up to 50% at 40 °C (104 °F), up to 90% at 20 °C (68 °F).
Detailed information on operation and further instructions for handling RED devices can be found in the welding machine operating manual
