ArcForce (also: Arc-Force Control, Welding Current Regulation) is an intelligent control function of modern electrode welding machines (MMA / manual metal arc), which automatically adjusts the welding current to keep the arc stable – especially with short arcs or critical welding situations. The aim is to improve arc stability and increase welding quality.
How it works:
During manual metal arc welding (MMA), droplets of molten metal form as the electrode melts, transferring onto the workpiece. If the arc becomes too short (e.g. due to unintended contact of the electrode with the weld pool), there is a risk of the arc extinguishing or the electrode sticking.
This is where the Arc-Force function intervenes:
The device recognises the brief instability and rapidly increases the welding current. This creates a stronger, "stiffer" arc that improves droplet transfer, prevents sticking, and stabilises melting.
If the arc becomes too long or unstable, the current is reduced accordingly to prevent the arc from breaking. This maintains an optimal welding voltage continuously.

Arc Force is standard in almost all modern inverter welding machines and particularly relevant when welding with changing electrode types or under difficult conditions. In combination with functions like Hot Start and AntiStick, it results in significantly improved welding performance – suitable for both beginners and professionals.
