Possible causes and solutions

Phase missing
Remedy:Test device on a different socket
Check supply cable
Check mains fuses

Poor earth contact
Remedy:Attach earth clamp to a clean, conductive spot on the workpiece or nearby
Secure the earth cable plug to the device by turning it clockwise until it stops
Torch defective
Remedy: Check and replace if necessary.Electrode holder defective
Remedy: Check and replace if necessary.
